KPCC In Person presents:

FilmWeek Screenings ‘Die Hard’

ACE171216

selected and hosted by Larry Mantle

Doors at 6:00pm

Yippee ki-yay! On Saturday, December 16, Larry Mantle returns to the Theatre at Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles to host a screening of “Die Hard” on the eve of its 30th anniversary. Following the film Rotten Tomatoes described as the “definitive holiday action classic," Mantle will host a post-screening conversation with special guests.

“Whenever we ask FilmWeek listeners to name their favorite holiday movies, 'Die Hard' gets prominent mention. Whenever we ask for favorite villains, 'Die Hard'’s Alan Rickman gets tons of listener love,” says Mantle. “It just seems natural to celebrate the season with John McClane’s one-man battle to save Century City from the forces of evil.”

The FilmWeek Screenings series – selected and hosted by Mantle – is dedicated to movies set in Southern California. “Die Hard” features the still-under-construction Fox Plaza, the corporate headquarters of 20th Century Fox in Century City, as the setting of the fictitious Nakatomi Plaza. FilmWeek is AirTalk’s weekly segment devoted to movies and the film industry.

In the film, NYPD detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) tries to save his wife Holly Gennaro (Bonnie Bedelia) and several others who were taken hostage by German terrorist Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman) during a Christmas party at the Nakatomi Plaza in Los Angeles.

“Die Hard” (1988)
Directed by John McTiernan
Written by Roderick Thorp (novel), Jeb Stuart and Steven E. de Souza (screenplay)
Starring Bruce Willis, Alan Rickman, Bonnie Bedelia, Reginald VelJohnson
